Welcome to the blog!

Hi there, I am Cat and I am so thrilled you stopped by! I am a wedding and portrait photographer based in Valdosta, Georgia (soon to be Maryland!), where I live with my sweet husband and our crazy rescue pup, JJ.

I am a perpetual traveler, champagne-loving red lipstick-wearer with a passion for telling stories through images, food and travel.

I hope you enjoy  viewing my latest work and getting a little peek into my life. Make yourself at home!

I know this post is not my usual topic of choice, but writing is something that has always been my escape. I have always kept a diary for all the things I didn't want to share with anyone, but still needed to get off my chest. I started so long ago, probably in 6th grade or so, and even though I don't write the "dear diary" every day anymore, I still always keep a book for when I am too overwhelmed or need to straighten my thoughts.

Today is just overwhelming, you know those days when you’re just not your usual self. It’s is humbling, it’s vulnerable and it is part of life. If you don’t know those days, LUCKY YOU! But if you found this blog post because you’re overwhelmed, you’re NOT alone! This blog post is actually me trying to figure it out publicly (what! yes, there is a first time for everything, so bear with me). I am 2 weeks behind my blog posts and I totally missed the mark, boo! Nobody is probably paying attention or missing it, but I have put that pressure and deadlines on myself, and I am behind, I don’t like being behind, so I am making this crisis not only my catch up blog post, but maybe someone that needs to hear that will benefit from it and that is WHY I decided to write it.

“Don’t be too hard on yourself, you’re doing the best you can”

I had to tell myself that today, and even though it didn’t help much, it’s a step in the right direction. For me, the first step to making it better is acknowledging the problem. So, what’s overwhelming you?

In my case, I have BIG, HUGE change coming into my life, and anyone that is sane would also feel at least overwhelmed by it all. We are moving in less than 4 months, but not only that, we don’t even know WHERE we will be going yet. I know, crazy, right? I agree. While that alone is a great deal, I am also moving with my business, starting over somewhere new and to be very honest, I am still learning and growing my business every day, and this is part of my problem, but also a solution for building the business I want to run, better, more automated and that works for me, my family and benefits my clients. I want to do everything NOW, to know everything and to get from A to B overnight, even though I know it is not possible, it still overwhelms me.

So, how writing helps me organize my thoughts and see things more clearly? It makes me analyze the situation as if it were someone else’s and once I understand the problem, I can work on a solution. If you are overwhelmed right about now, ask yourself: What’s overwhelming me?

The first step is to find the source of the problem, what’s overwhelming you? Be specific and don’t sugar coat anything, be raw! Be truthful even if it’s ugly. My problem is that I have TOO MANY things I want to do, learn, read and accomplish at the same time. What are the possible solutions for my problem? I jotted down on a paper EVERYTHING that was on my mind, and it was a lot, a lot more than I could do in a week, than I could concentrate on and that I could accomplish, so after that I organized all of those things into three categories: things I need to do NOW, things I can do LATER and things I will have to do SOON, but that can wait, I just need them to be there, so I don’t forget them.Does that sound like a good plan to you? I have included a simple free mini planner to help guide me through the massive amount of things that need to be done. It includes a master monthly intentions, you can write down all the things you plan on doing, getting started or that you may want to read about to implement later. You can skip this page altogether, but you can write here the things you aren't ready for yet, and that otherwise wouldn't go in your to-do list, and that is helpful so you know those things won't get forgotten.

You can grab my FREE to-do list and planner HERE!

Remember to give yourself some grace; things will be there tomorrow, so just take your time, don’t be too hard on yourself! Happy planning!
