Whew, 2017 is old news and 2018 started with the unthinkable, SNOW in South Georgia and Florida, whaaat! I still can't believe that happened. Well, talking about weird and snow, it also snowed in Louisiana last year and that was pretty crazy! So I saw all these really cool year in review posts on Insta Stories and I thought " I actually didn't do much last year" so I set out to look at all my pictures and see what I had really done in 2017 and here they are!
First, I started the year with two styled shoots and I am so glad I did them, I started out my year with a winter wedding too.
I also had over 10 weddings in 2017, which is awesome for my first year as a wedding photographer.
I turned the big 3.0
I also got FEATURED on New York Institute of Photography's website!!! Check the whole interview HERE
I got to see my dad <3 having family so far away is really hard, and with it being so expensive to fly, we don't always get to see each other, so I was thrilled that they came here to see us! We also got him and Ana in front of my lens in a grand your around Valdosta, you can see the full blog post HERE. While they were here, we also got to go to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure in the Summer.
Right at the end of their trip, Kyle and I actually got to go to Destin, FL in a snuba diving trip. I'd like to say that was fun, but really it was a bust hahaha the water was greenish-yellow and with so much debris, I couldn't see much. I also felt claustrophobic down there and there was too much pressure on my ears to be enjoyable. I also had a sinus infection, so that could be why, but here are the pictures!
Up next, there was the Air Force Ball and their 70th anniversary! We never go to the ball, but since we are leaving the military life, we decided to go experience it so we could say we did it haha, I wasn't so impressed with it either, but they had some amazing pork empanadas.
That time when we cleaned up really well!
For our SIXTH anniversary, we were planning to go to the Tampa and St Pete area, but a friend who was going to host us decided to go to Miami instead, so we went with Columbus, GA! I am so glad we did too, I loved that town, the National Infantry Museum was phenomenal! Oh, we also finally got to go white water rafting and that was AMAZING! Totally worth the high price-tag.
Right before Columbus, we stopped at the Providence Canyon, something I have wanted to do since 2012 but never got around to. Great little canyon if you're in Columbus.
In November we had another Air Show, and I had one more chance to scoop up some awesome plane shots!
It was REALLY cold that day.
Later that month we went to Orlando once again for one last hooray! My sweet family (cousin, her babies, my aunt and uncle) came to spend a few weeks and we made sure to stop by and stayed with them for a few days. Kyle and I got to enjoy one more Universal day with our tickets from the Summer, my cousin got some pictures taken too of her family and overall we just had a great time catching up. I realized too late that we never got any pictures together though :(
We also got some GORGEOUS portraits taken by my friend and fellow photographer Babie Mcneal
Finally, I got to serve and photograph so many families, friends, folks leaving the military who needed new headshots and couples saying I do. I also got to photograph my very first destination wedding in New Orleans and it was a dream!!!
Oh, we also survived a hurricane! I think that about sums it all up for 2017! I'd have to say my favorite parts of the year were seeing my business grow and seeing my family, it's so rewarding when hard work pays off, and no matter how hard and ugly things get, your family is always there to support you <3
