Hi there, I am Cat and I am so thrilled you stopped by! I am a wedding and portrait photographer based in Valdosta, Georgia (soon to be Maryland!), where I live with my sweet husband and our crazy rescue pup, JJ.

I am a perpetual traveler, champagne-loving red lipstick-wearer with a passion for telling stories through images, food and travel.

WHY YOU NEED A WEDDING "PERSON"

 

 

 

You are engaged and planning your special day, it’s so exciting! It could be months from now, or maybe it’s just around the corner and you are worrying you may be forgetting something, you’re scanning Pinterest and blogs to read about tips from people who have been in your shoes and would have done a thing or ten differently.

 

You’re already on the right path! I hate to say that but you probably ARE forgetting something, we all do. It is completely normal to forget things, especially if this is the first time you are getting married and you are not familiar with the planning phases of a large and/or complex event. This is especially true, if like me, you are planning your own wedding.

 

It is true that our friends and family are there to help, but something brides may not think about is that those people are also busy with their own hair, makeup, dresses and personal lives on the wedding day. If someone on your wedding party is running out to go get something you forgot at the hotel, it means we can’t do bridal party portraits, or mom won’t be there when you are getting in your dress, for example. If we have to wait for someone, it will throw off the timeline for the rest of the day.

 

Even if you are working with a planner, they are there to ensure that the whole picture is in check, they will ensure the day will run smoothly (and this is also why it’s SO important to pick the right planner), but even planners can’t micromanage everything, they most likely won’t be with you all day and will have different things to deal with throughout the day with other vendors.

 

This is why having A PERSON comes in so very handy! Let me define what a wedding person is. The wedding person is someone RELIABLE, RESPONSIBLE and AVAILABLE that is NOT on your wedding party or participating in the wedding in any way (but can be a guest). Your person is someone who can run little errands for you, they can go get everyone some food, more orange juice for your mimosas or grab the tie your groom forgot at home. Make sure your wedding person is available throughout the weekend. Ensure they KNOW your vision and can make decisions for you.

 

I didn’t have a person on my wedding day buy how I wish someone had told me that before then. I could really have used it.  I had people who really helped and offered help, but a wedding person knows your plan inside and out, they get your vision and are ready to go whenever you need them.

 

I hope you have a person for yours! If not, start looking now :) don’t forget to let me (or your photographer) know who your person is, so you can make sure to get a picture with him or her (and the picture could make a great thank you gift later on!)
